Daily life transactions requiring an ID

Jerusalem Story

Under Israeli law, every resident aged 16 and over must carry an ID at all times. The ID must list specified details about the resident and his or her entire family, and these details must be current and accurate to reflect the individual’s life situation at any given moment. The ID is required for most types of daily life transactions and interactions, such as those shown in this infographic. We present this to show how indispensable it is for permanent residents to have a valid ID (meaning a legal status) even above and beyond the crucial question of being allowed to remain in the city.
