Caritas Jerusalem represents the socio-pastoral services of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land and now serves more than 30,000 people in the occupied Palestinian territories. Founded in the aftermath of the 1967 War, it is a member of Caritas Internationalis, a confederation that challenges cultural, local, national, and international governance structures that undermine the ability to live sustainable and just lives.

The Child Institute was established by Al-Quds University in 2004 to help create bridges of collaboration between the university and the Jerusalem community. It studies community needs and develops programs that build the capacities of adults who work with children and youth.

The institute focuses on creating programs and projects to educate children with educational, physical, behavioral, and emotional difficulties (for example, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, disruptive behavior disorders) and their parents and teachers about the nature of their challenges and needs. It encourages research about children’s well-being in many disciplines, including education, health, and psychology.

It also fosters public awareness about children’s needs and well-being by disseminating information to national and international institutions and universities and to the public and the private sectors, including NGOs.
