Notes

Established in the fall of 2006, the Al-Quds Human Rights Clinic (AQHRC) became the first accredited clinical human rights legal education program in Palestine and the Arab World. It operates as an independent unit within the Faculty of Law at Al-Quds University. The AQHRC teaches its undergraduate law students through practical legal training in international human rights and humanitarian law, in an effort to facilitate access to justice for Palestinians.

Its year-long program includes a legal internship, campaign design, and hands-on projects, in addition to lectures and seminars. In 2008, a Street Law program was established to teach high school students their rights.

The unit also offers legal assistance to low-income Palestinians in Jerusalem.

As the first program of its kind and with its international recognition, the AQHRC is a model of clinical legal education in the Arab world, empowering students to advocate for Palestinian rights and contribute to civil society.
