Mihrab

Refers to a niche or alcove in the wall of a mosque that indicates the qibla, the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca, towards which Muslims face during prayer. The mihrab, the most important element in any mosque, is typically located along the mosque’s qibla wall, which is the wall oriented closest to Mecca. Mihrabs may vary in size and adornments but are usually designed with geometric patterns, calligraphy, and tiles or mosaics. They are also found in madrasas
