Abnaa al-Quds was established in 1976 to create sporting, social, and cultural activities for Palestinian Jerusalemite children, youth, women, and the elderly.

Abnaa al-Quds is located in a very sensitive location in the Old City next to the Old City wall, over a space of five acres. It offers a football field and basketball court, sports hall, lecture hall, computer lab, and administrative offices.

The club organizes afterschool programs such as youth leadership workshops, dancing classes, football and basketball training, sports training and classes for women, and workshops in legal awareness and positive parenting (in collaboration with other Palestinian organizations).

Abu Jihad Center for Affairs of the Prisoners’ Movement—al-Quds University

Mission

Abu Jihad Center aims to be the first resource for researchers working on the experience of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement. The center collects the national heritage of Palestinian detainees from two periods, 1917–48 (under the Colonial British Mandate) and 1967 to the present (under Israeli occupation), and manages this national heritage after presenting it to the world as an integral part of the heritage of the Palestinian people.

The Abu Jihad Center documents and preserves the history of the Palestinian political prisoner movement to ensure that Palestinian prisoners remain a vibrant part of the national memory. The center collects information about prisoners, organizes exhibitions, and maintains relationships with civil society institutions. The center displays artwork and has a library and an electronic archive.

Adalah — The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel

Mission

To promote human rights in Israel in general and the rights of the Palestinian minority, citizens of Israel, in particular (around 1.5 million people, or 20 percent of the population). This work also includes promoting and defending the human rights of all individuals subject to the jurisdiction of the State of Israel (e.g., Palestinian residents of the occupied Palestinian Territories (oPT).)

Adalah (“Justice” in Arabic), an independent human rights organization and legal center, became an independent NGO in 1997. Since then, it has brought about 250 impact litigation cases before the Israeli Supreme Court and the lower courts, which have spanned diverse fields including land and planning rights, civil and political rights, economic, social, and cultural rights, and prisoners’ rights. Numerous cases have resulted in landmark, precedent-setting decisions.

Addameer, meaning “conscience” in Arabic, aids Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli and Palestinian jails. Established in 1991 by human rights activists, it provides free legal aid to political prisoners, advocates for prisoners’ rights nationally and internationally, and combats torture and violations through monitoring, legal procedures, and solidarity campaigns.
